Agenda:

The seminars are geared towards a range of potential applicants: those with no or some experience/familiarity with NIH funding opportunities and processes. Examples of topics covered, from introduction to real-time demonstrations, include but are not limited to:

  • Effective and efficient communication strategies to use with NIH Program Officials, Grants Management Specialists, and Scientific Review Officer.
  • How to interpret funding opportunity announcements (FOA). 
  • How to find who to talk to about your ideas and which Institutes and Centers (ICs) to approach, as well as which study sections to submit to (Agency Contacts; Table of IC-Specific Information, Requirements, and Staff Contacts; RePORTER; MatchMaker; Assisted Referral Tool). 
  • Overview of programs/initiatives from several different Institutes and Centers.  Here are some examples (FOA # included so you can take a look now!):
